Workplace Safety Summit Delivers Valuable Safety Insights and Recognizes Industry Excellence

The Midwest Food Products Association (MWFPA) welcomed food manufacturing professionals from across the region to the 2026 Workplace Safety Summit on February 19 at The Lodge at Mauston. The event brought together safety leaders, plant managers, HR professionals, and operations personnel for a day focused on reducing workplace risks, improving compliance, and sharing best practices.

The program featured presentations on some of the industry's most important safety topics, including OSHA recordkeeping requirements, machine guarding, aerial lift safety, fall protection, emergency preparedness, and emerging regulatory developments.

Attendees heard from industry experts including Dave Schwoerer of Endpoint Solutions, Dylan Schroeder of M3 Insurance, and Aaron Gelb of Conn Maciel Carey, who provided practical guidance on OSHA compliance and safety program management. Lakeside Foods' Erica Kunze and Dan Allen shared insights on implementing OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program, while SERVPRO Team Zubricki discussed strategies for emergency preparedness and business recovery planning.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2025 MWFPA Safety Awards, which recognized member facilities for outstanding workplace safety performance. Facilities operated by Chippewa Valley Bean, Lakeside Foods, Seneca Foods, Nortera Foods, and Conagra/Birds Eye were among those honored for achievements including low incident rates, significant safety improvements, and injury-free workplace milestones.
