The Midwest Food Products Association celebrated the inaugural graduating cohort of the Midwest Food Leadership Academy in May, marking an important milestone in the Association’s ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in food manufacturing. The Academy was created to provide emerging leaders with practical leadership skills, strategic insights, and industry knowledge while building a strong network of peers from across the Midwest food industry.

Over the course of four sessions held throughout Wisconsin, participants explored a wide range of topics designed to strengthen their leadership capabilities and prepare them for the challenges facing today’s food manufacturing industry. The program combined expert instruction, peer-to-peer learning, industry discussions, and real-world case studies focused on communication, culture, strategic planning, workforce development, operational excellence, and industry trends.

Participants learned from a diverse group of respected business and industry leaders, including – but not limited to – Tim Rockwell of Rockwell Growth Strategies, who shared strategies for high-impact leadership; John McHugh of Kwik Trip, who discussed the role of purpose and compassion in creating strong workplace cultures; and Paul Palmby, CEO of Seneca Foods, who concluded the program with a fireside chat on leadership lessons and organizational success.

“The future success of our industry depends on developing talented leaders who can navigate change, build strong teams, and drive innovation,” said Nick Novak, President of the Midwest Food Products Association. “The Leadership Academy was created to help emerging leaders gain the skills, confidence, and industry perspective needed to lead successfully in food manufacturing. We are incredibly proud of this first graduating class and excited to see the impact they will make within their companies and throughout our industry.”

The inaugural program was make possible by several generous sponsors and partners, including: ChemStation, Lockton, Michael Best, Pinion Global, and WDS Construction.

As the food manufacturing industry continues to evolve, leadership development has never been more important. The Midwest Food Leadership Academy represents a significant investment in the people who will help shape the future of the industry, and MWFPA looks forward to building on the success of this inaugural graduating class in the years ahead.
